Predictions

I am reading the book Reasons to be Happy and I am starting to see the plot form by just a few lines in the text and I am starting to be able to start formatting very well structered predictions and ideas for the future og the book.

One line in the text that really develops the plot  is "You just want to get rid of me! You hate me! You think im fat and ugly!" This quote really moves the story line along, before this point in the story Hannah is bolemic, and she still is in this part. The thing that makes this point in the story so important is that Hannah now thinks that her dad thinks she is ugly, this is meaning that she now has one more reason for her to be bolemic. Her dad doesnt know this but his actions are playing a very imporatnt role in her daughters life. Hannah believes that her dad thinks she is ugly and in order to make him happy she needs to be thin. This is not true. Not only is her dad always on her case but her friends are always teasing her as well.

I think in the future of this novel Hannah will talk to her dad about her problem and eventually try to take actions to fix it. This may be by getting a nre friend group, or going to a therapy class. But regardless of what she does I think she will take the right steps to solve this peoblem.

Character Symbol

In the book Reasons to Be Happy there are three characters are very different in their personality and actions. All the charcters have something different that represents them as a person.

Hannah: Hannah is the main character in the book and she stuggles with Bulimia. I think that a good item to represent her is a crumbling rock. I think that this is a good connection becasue Hannah has the possibility to be strong and stay together, but she slowly falling apart over time. This is just like the rock because the rock is slowly chipping away.

Brooke: Brooke is Hannah's friend. She is the most popular girl in school and she is a bully to Hannah about her weight. I think a good item to realte her to is makeup. I think this because makeup can "cover up" what she wants to hide. Brooke has family issues and she uses the popualrity at school to cover it up. like makeup can cover someones true face.

Hannah's Father: Hannah's father stuggled with alcohol after his wife died of cancer. I believe that a good symbol for him would be a key. I think a lock is representative of her father because the lock is very closed off and in its own world. Hannahs father is closed off and secretive about what he does and says.

These are just three characters in my novel. What symbol can you think of for yourself?
