Minor Character Change
A minor character in the book The Husbands Secret is John-Pauls mother. She is a very minor character because she is very briefly introduced in the story and doesnt play a major role. She comes over to Cecilia's home (John- Pauls Husband) every week to have tea and a fresh baked pastery. This plays a very small part in the plot of the story. John Pauls mother knows about how her son murdered Janie. This could be a signifigant part in the story but the author writes it to be insignifigant to the story. If the author were to make this charcter a more singifigant character in the book she would have to change some things in the plot. For example Cecilia would tell her husband that his mom knew about the girl that he murdered. This would change the way that John-Paul goes about his daily life now knowing he and his wife are not the only people who know of what he did. I think that this change would improve the plot of the story in a major way. For example Cecilia and John-Pauls mom could team up on him and turn him in to finally give him the punishment that he deserves. I personally think that John-Paul should be punished for what he did. If you were Cecilia would you turn your husband in for murder?

The Husband's Secret
Imagery
The Husbands Secret is set up very differently from most books that you read. There are three seperate lives or stories in the book that all are slowly starting to relate together. There is Cecilia and John Paul, they are married and havd three children. There Tess and Will, they have one child. Tess has a sister named Felicity who is very involved in her life. Lastly there is Rachel, she has one child named Rob and a grandchild. Her other child named Janie was murdered and her husband had died. All of these characters live very different lives but slowly as they change and develop they are linking together.
I am about two thirds the way done with my book and I have noticed excellent use of imagery in the text. For example "The school principal, floated into the room, one of her trademark crochted shawls slipping off her bony shoulders, strands of gray frizzy hair floating around her face, a smudge of red paint on her left cheekbone" (Moriarty 88) The reason I belive this quote shows such great imagery is because the description is flawless. When I am reading this quote I can see the hair in her face and the paint on her left cheek. Not only does this paint a vivid image in my head but it allows me to get a better understading of the school principals character. It shows me that she is an older woman, and loves to play with children. The reason I know this is because the suthor says "gray frizzy hair" which shows me she is an older woman. She also says (red paint on her left cheekbone" which tells me she was with thge kids at the school. I think that this book has great imagery. does your book have the same?

A Brief History of Montmary
Michelle Cooper
Sophia the main character in A Brief History of Montmary developed over the course of the text. In the beginning of the story she lacked strong will and perseverance. Through the hardships of living on the island she was able to overcome that and show how strong she really was. Sophia also interacted with many characters. She was able to change the thoughts of many people through her simple words of wisdom. For example a major part of the story was deciding if her family should move to England. Even though many others thought it was a good idea, Sophia made sure that they did not move. This made the plot change completely, if they would have moved the plot would have been non existent. Because Sophia played such a major role in the story that if she did one thing differently the plot would have changed.
A great review and different take on the book! This will give you a little more insight on the book. Montmary Article
